New Titles: Nick Allen: Editor; Matt Fagerholm: literary editor; and Nell Minow: Editor-in-Chief

Nine years ago, in April 2013, became an independent film review site. It was originally co-founded by me and my late husband, Roger Ebert, in 2002, in conjunction with the Chicago Sun-Times, for whom Roger wrote for 46 years. And we all agreed that going independent could be an exciting new adventure. This website meant a lot to Roger. In the Steve James documentary “Life Itself”, you see a scene of Roger reviewing the revamped website with Table XI’s Josh Golden and giving it his approval. When his illness progressed and he suspected he wouldn’t be around long enough to execute all the changes he wanted to make, he asked me to keep the site running. He thought it was important to keep having conversations about movies. I know he would be proud to see us continuing his tradition.

I am fortunate to have an excellent editorial team to help me create this publication. And to celebrate the ninth anniversary of this standalone site, I’m announcing new titles for our associate editors that better define their crucial roles. I remain the editor and publisher. Brian Tallerico is a treasure. It is always stable as the engine that is the editor, which works without disturbing itself no matter what. Matt Zoller Seitz remains our editor, contributing his source of knowledge and ideas. But after a few years as essential associate editors, Nick Allen, Matt Fagerholm and Nell Minow have been promoted to titles that capture what they bring to this company every day through their hard work and expertise.

Nick Allen was promoted to editor; Matt Fagerholm was promoted to literary editor; and Nell Minow was promoted to editor. All three editors work closely with me, Brian and Matt in various capacities. But each of the associate editors makes distinct contributions. Allen works closely with Brian on day-to-day content needs and brings his intellect, insight and even-tempered nature to everything he does – invaluable; Fagerholm works closely with me on articles and events related to Roger’s literary legacy as well as promotional and editorial work related generally to the film industry; and Minow brings his years of experience as a reviewer to be one of the most consistent and insightful voices on the site. Although she is not a lawyer for the site, her years as a lawyer in the outside world also imbue our meetings with special attention.

These new titles more fully distinguish their achievements and contributions. You can find the bios for each of these editorial talents below:
